Patrick Fields.
By far the greatest analyst of American life and society was Alexis de Tocqueville. So, I wrote a short book about what he would say about America today.
The reason I earned a 5 on my AP US History exam was that my teacher taught me how to incorporate analysis into essays; this skill has served me well as an American History teacher. An exceptionally high percentage of my students have achieved high scores (3,4 and 5) on the AP US History exam.
That is why I wrote "de Tocqueville Incognito", a short and accessible book that will help you ace the exam. It is available here as a pdf download or in audio format now for just $5.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987. I’ve taught History and French for most of the time since then, as well as English as a Second Language in New York City, France and Brazil. I enjoy long hikes on the Appalachian Trail with my English Setter Molly.
I owe it to my high school AP US History teacher and all my professors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who taught me how to analyze historic events and their repercussions decades, or centuries later. I learned how to apply and integrate analysis from great social scientists and philosophers to the events.
